Lemons and limes

Start the morning with the perfect drink - warm lemon water. It aids the digestive system - eliminating symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn, bloating and belching, it controls constipation and diarrhea by eliminating waste more efficiently and also cleanses the liver.

One of the major health benefits of drinking lemon water is that it helps you for losing weight faster because it flushes out body toxins, becoming extremely beneficial for the body.

Due to its richness in vitamin C (100 ml lemon juice contain approximately 50 mg of vitamin C and 5 g citric acid), lemon enhances your beauty by rejuvenating skin from within and bringing a glow on your face.

It also helps promote your immune system and protects you from the clutches of most types of infections. Lemon also plays the role of blood purifier and it′s a fabulous natural antiseptic. Limewater juice works well for people with heart problem, because of its high potassium content.

There are two types of lemons: the yellow ones, called lemons and the green ones known as limes.

In the beverages preparation, both lemons and limes are regularly served as lemonade or limeade (its equivalent) or as a garnish for drinks such as Iced Tea or a soft drink, with a slice either inside or on the rim of the glass.

Alcoholic drinks prepared with limes include cocktails such as the Gin and Tonic, Margarita, Mojito and Cuba Libre. Tequila is also consumed in shots accompanied by lime wedges and salt. Beer is often served with limes in Mexico, as well as some other countries. Italian liqueur Limoncello is prepared from lemons only.

About the food preparation, lemon juice is typically squeezed onto fish dishes because the acidic juice neutralizes the taste of amines in fish. It is also used when marinating meat before cooking and can be eaten also just as a fruit. Many people eat it like this, but is recommended to drink water after eating it, to wash the citric acid and sugar from the teeth, which might promote tooth decay. It also can be used on its own or with oranges to make marmalade.

So, take our advice and make lemon a part of your daily routine. Drink a glass of warm lemon water in the morning and then you are full of energy for a new day or used it as an ingredient in many other drinks and food.
