It may be used to relieve migraine headaches, minor colds, digestive aliments and morning sickness and more. Taken after a meal, the tea acts to settle the stomach and improve digestion. To prepare the tea, pour one cup of boiling water over 1–2 teaspoon of dried peppermint leaves, cover, and steep for 10 minutes. Strain the mixture before drinking.
Peppermint Alcoholic Drinks
A famous peppermint alcoholic drink is Peppermint Schnapps. Schnapps, in German, means alcohol. Peppermint Schnapps was invented by Francois Nicolas Appert, a Paris candy maker who invented it in about 1810 to put on ice cream. It became very popular in time as a drink.
Its ingredients are usually vodka, fresh peppermint leaves or peppermint oil and sugar. It is a fresh, mild and very delicate alcoholic drink. And you can also turn easily into an liqueur.
You can serve it on its own or with lamb, fish, vegetables, soups, desserts, many types of cheese, and cheese cakes. You can also use the schnapps in desserts, salad dressings, jellies, sauces, herb butters - or any dish where you would normally use peppermint.
Peppermint schnapps blends very well with peach schnapps, rosemary schnapps, lemon balm schnapps, lemon thyme schnapps and crabapple schnapps.
Peppermint Non-Alcoholic Drinks
Peppermint is main ingredient in various non-alcoholic drinks. You will find it in different combinations with hot chocolate, iced tea, different punches, fruit juices, ice cream, cocoa, frappe, etc.
